Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates endorses Greta Kemp Martin
Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates (PPSEA) announced its endorsement of Greta Kemp Martin for Mississippi Attorney General. Citing the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, PPSEA’s board noted in their endorsement, “Everyone seeking reproductive health services, especially Black, Latino, and Indigenous Mississippians and Mississippians living in rural areas, faces incredible barriers to healthcare.”
Kemp Martin faces incumbent Attorney General Lynn Fitch in the November general election.
The endorsement went on to emphasize the important need for strong leadership in Mississippi to “alleviate those barriers and expand access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare across Mississippi.”
“I have stood with Planned Parenthood and their mission to provide healthcare, particularly for underserved women, for years,” said Kemp Martin. “Without their services, so many individuals and families in Mississippi would be without access to affordable, preventative healthcare.”
Kemp Martin’s endorsement from PPSEA comes on the heels of several other endorsements, including VoteMama and the Democratic Attorneys General Association.
“The country is watching Mississippi during this election cycle,” Kemp Martin shared. “Between the millions of dollars of stolen TANF funds, our rural hospital crisis and the lack of Medicaid expansion, and our part in the Dobbs decision, our elected officials are failing Mississippians.”
As the organizing, advocacy, and electoral arm of Planned Parenthood Southeast, Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates (PPSEA) engages in electoral activities, including voter education and mobilization. They believe elected officials should support policies and programs that help women and their families make responsible choices about the prevention of unintended pregnancies and plan for healthy families. PPSEA works to educate and mobilize the public and elect lawmakers who support these policies.
