Utility crews work across service territory
Utility crews are working across their entire service territory, with 27 crews in the field and about 50 expected by Wednesday morning, the utility said in a Facebook post. At the height of the storm, about 95% of the system lost power, and the company called the situation an extended restoration event without specific restoration times.
The utility said Tennessee Valley Authority crews are on site at the West Oxford and Taylor substations and are making good progress. TVA crews are optimistic restoration will occur within the next 24 hours, which would allow the utility’s crews to move into those areas to begin local restoration work.
The utility said the substation serving the university was energized this morning and it anticipates energizing two additional substations today and two more tomorrow. All substations that remain down have crews working on them, and crews are clearing right-of-way on the Lafayette Springs circuit and in the Thaxton and Hurricane areas.
A construction crew is working in the Highway 334, Tula and Paris areas. The utility said as right-of-way work progresses, line crews will move in to restore power. The company thanked customers for their patience and said it is working safely and steadily to restore service. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
