Tupelo man charged with aggravated cocaine trafficking after drug investigation
TUPELO, Miss. — Anthony Christopher Dixon, 46, of Tupelo was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of cocaine after a traffic stop and subsequent search warrant, the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit said.
Agents stopped a black Ford F-150 on South Eason Boulevard on March 5 and identified Dixon as the driver, the agency said. During the stop, agents said they developed probable cause to search the vehicle and found a felony amount of suspected cocaine and marijuana.
Investigators later executed a search warrant at Dixon’s home on Pierce Street in Tupelo. Agents said they seized more than 1 1/2 pounds of suspected cocaine, 1 pound of suspected marijuana and more than $175,000 in cash.
Dixon was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of cocaine. Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Willie Allen ordered him held without bond, officials said. The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be possible.
The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit is a regional task force that investigates suspected drug trafficking in the area. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
