Tupelo man arrested on fentanyl charges after Lee County search warrant
A Tupelo man was arrested on fentanyl-related charges after a search warrant was executed March 24 in southern Lee County, Sheriff Jim Johnson said.
Sheriff Jim Johnson said the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, working with the Tupelo Police Department and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, carried out the warrant. Investigators arrested Andre Deshone Green, 48, of Tupelo, during the operation.
Green was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance identified as fentanyl, the sheriff’s office said. He also was taken into custody on two circuit court capias warrants tied to the sale of fentanyl.
A justice court judge set Green’s bond at $5,000 on the possession charge, and he remains jailed without bond on the two capias warrants, the sheriff’s office said. Officials said additional charges could be presented later to a grand jury.
Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid that has been linked to a rise in overdose deaths nationwide, and law enforcement agencies frequently partner on search warrants to disrupt local drug distribution. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
