Traffic tip urges drivers to avoid blocking intersections
A Facebook post titled “Traffic Tip Tuesday” urged drivers not to stop in the middle of an intersection and to ensure there is enough room to complete a turn before proceeding.
The post advised drivers to remain behind the stop line or crosswalk until traffic ahead clears so they can complete their turn safely. It warned that entering an intersection without sufficient space can block traffic, create congestion and increase the risk of crashes, adding, “A little patience goes a long way!”
Traffic safety reminders such as this are common from agencies and community pages as a way to reduce delays and prevent collisions. Blocking intersections can impede emergency vehicles and frustrate other drivers, and it can run afoul of traffic rules in many jurisdictions.
The reminder underscores how small, cautious actions by individual drivers can improve overall traffic flow and safety. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
