Tips lead to arrests, Crime Stoppers pays rewards

Tips provided to Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers recently led to the arrests of two people wanted by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and Crime Stoppers paid reward funds, the sheriff’s office said.

Crime Stoppers issued reward payments of $500 for one tip and $650 for a second tip, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies located and arrested two individuals with active warrants after receiving information from concerned citizens.

The sheriff’s office said the tips were prompted by its “Wanted Wednesday” posts shared on the department’s mobile app and Facebook page. The department has published the weekly “Wanted Wednesday” page for the past three weeks, featuring six wanted people each week, the office said.

Deputies have achieved about an 80% success rate in apprehending those listed, the sheriff’s office said, a figure that includes people who voluntarily turned themselves in. Crime Stoppers allows citizens to submit tips anonymously, and tipsters’ identities are not revealed when rewards are paid.

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office urged anyone with information about criminal activity or the whereabouts of wanted persons to contact the sheriff’s office at 662-328-6788 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151. Tips may also be submitted through the P3-Tips app. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
