State fire officials host virtual town hall, announce major funding
JACKSON — Mississippi fire service leaders and personnel are invited to a statewide virtual town hall Monday, Feb. 23, that will include major funding announcements, policy updates and a live question-and-answer session, organizers said.
The “MSFIRE Virtual Town Hall & Open Office Hours” is scheduled for 9 a.m. and will be hosted by the state fire coordinator and MSFIRE. Organizers said the session is designed for fire chiefs, coordinators, officers, volunteers, career personnel and partner agencies across Mississippi.
Officials said they plan to release details during the session about millions of dollars in funding available for Mississippi fire departments. The event will feature real-time statewide updates from the Mississippi Forestry Commission, the Mississippi Firefighters Association and state fire leadership, according to organizers.
Organizers said the agenda also will include policy updates, open discussion and a live question-and-answer period as time allows. The virtual session is open to anyone connected to Mississippi’s fire service, and registration is available online. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
