Police find two dead in Jackson shooting
Jackson police said Sunday night that officers found two people dead after responding to a shooting in the 5300 block of Dogwood Trail near Oakridge Road.
Officers from Precinct 1 arrived at about 10 p.m. on March 2 and located a 31-year-old Black man, identified as Antonio Arnold, lying in a ditch, and a White man lying in the street nearby, the Jackson Police Department said. Arnold’s next of kin has been notified. The White man’s name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin, police said.
The Robbery/Homicide Unit, the Mobile Crime Unit and the Hinds County coroner responded to the scene, which was processed and where the coroner took custody of the deceased, the department said. Those specialized units typically investigate violent crimes and process evidence at scenes.
Police described the investigation as active and asked anyone with information to contact the Jackson Police Department at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477). This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
