Pike County deputies rescue four horses after complaint

Pike County deputies rescued four horses recently after receiving complaints about their living conditions, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies investigated and determined removing the animals was necessary to ensure their safety and well-being, the office’s Public Relations Department said.

Local wranglers assisted sheriff’s office personnel during the removal, and the horses were transported to a rescue farm, the statement said. At the farm, the animals now have access to green pasture, clean and sanitized living areas and veterinary care.

The sheriff’s office said it will continue to monitor the case while the investigation remains ongoing. Animal welfare investigations such as this are part of law enforcement responsibilities in many jurisdictions and can lead to additional actions if evidence of neglect or other violations is found.

The information was provided by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
