Oxford police host Junior Leadership Lafayette visit

The Oxford Police Department said on its Facebook page that it welcomed Junior Leadership Lafayette “yesterday” for a visit to learn about law enforcement from leaders of several local departments and organizations.

The post did not provide further details about the visit, but it said the department appreciated the opportunity to host the group and introduce participants to aspects of police work.

The Oxford Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Oxford, Mississippi. Local police departments commonly conduct outreach and educational events for young people to explain public safety roles, demystify police operations and foster relationships between officers and the community they serve.

Junior Leadership Lafayette is a local youth leadership program that brings area young people together to learn about civic institutions, community leadership and career opportunities, organizers say. Visits like the one to the police department aim to give participants firsthand exposure to public safety careers and community partnerships.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
