OPD starts women’s self-defense class tonight
The Oxford Police Department is restarting its women’s self-defense class tonight, kicking off the Spring 2026 session at 6 p.m. in the OPD training room, the department said in a Facebook post.
The free class is open to all women and requires no registration, the department said. Certified OPD instructors will lead the sessions and focus on practical, real-world techniques designed to build confidence and personal safety skills.
Self-defense classes are a common element of community policing and public safety outreach, offering residents nonconfrontational tools to reduce risk and increase situational awareness. The Oxford Police Department has promoted community programs in the past as part of efforts to strengthen relationships between officers and residents.
Organizers encouraged interested participants to arrive on time and noted there is no fee. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
