Mississippi investigators promote forensics careers at Yazoo City fair
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Capitol Police Crime Scene Unit attended the Larry Summers Career & Technical Center Career Fair at Yazoo City High School to engage students interested in forensic science, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post.
Agency representatives met with students who asked thoughtful questions and showed curiosity about investigations and crime-scene work, the post said. The visit was part of outreach efforts to introduce young people to careers in law enforcement and forensic science.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is the state’s statewide criminal investigative agency, and the Capitol Police Crime Scene Unit processes evidence and documents scenes in support of prosecutions. Outreach events like career fairs help agencies explain career paths, required training and daily duties to potential future employees.
The Departments of Public Safety and law enforcement agencies nationwide often participate in school career days to build community ties and strengthen recruitment pipelines for technically skilled positions. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
