Mississippi Department of Public Safety reports service improvements
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said Monday that driver services wait times have fallen across the state, an autopsy backlog has been eliminated and its standards and training unit has increased investigations to ensure accountability in law enforcement.
The department posted the update in a Facebook reel and published a longer discussion on its YouTube channel, saying the changes reflect ongoing efforts to improve service and oversight for Mississippians.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is the state agency responsible for driver licensing, public safety programs and oversight of certain law enforcement functions. Reductions in driver services wait times can speed access to licenses and permits, while eliminating an autopsy backlog can help accelerate death investigations and provide answers to families and investigators.
Officials said they are proud of the progress but acknowledged more work remains and that the department will continue efforts to better serve and protect residents. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
