Mississippi Department of Public Safety closes offices for Presidents Day
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post that its offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of Presidents Day. The closure includes all Driver Service Bureaus across the state, the department said.
Officials said offices will resume normal business hours Tuesday, Feb. 17. The announcement affects residents planning to visit driver service locations for tasks such as renewing licenses, taking tests or conducting other in-person transactions.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is the state agency responsible for driver licensing and other public safety functions, including enforcement and highway safety programs. Observing Presidents Day means many state and federal offices and some private businesses will be closed on the third Monday in February.
Residents who need services are advised to plan ahead and use the department’s online resources when possible. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
