MEMA coordinates with counties after severe winter storm
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says it continues to work with impacted counties following a recent severe winter storm and urges residents with unmet needs to contact their local county emergency management office, the agency said in a Facebook post.
MEMA provided a list of county emergency management contacts on its website and directed residents to a dedicated storm information page for details about shelters, distribution sites and donation centers. The agency posted the contact list at https://www.msema.org/get-assistance/county-emergency-management-contacts and the storm information page at https://www.msema.org/get-assistance/disaster-resources/disasters/january-2026-winter-weather.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is the state agency responsible for coordinating preparedness, response and recovery activities during disasters. Local county offices typically handle immediate, on-the-ground needs and can connect residents with available services and assistance.
Winter storms can produce hazardous road conditions, power outages and other disruptions, making prompt contact with local emergency managers important for those seeking help. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
