Juvenile arrested in Longmeadow auto burglaries

STARKVILLE, Miss. — At 2:24 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, the Starkville Police Department responded to a reported auto burglary in the Longmeadow subdivision and arrested a 16-year-old juvenile, the department said. The youth was charged with 10 reported auto burglaries that occurred in the subdivision, police said.

The department said the juvenile has been charged with a total of 27 felony offenses since 2023, including the charges announced Wednesday, and is a suspect in nine additional felony reports dating back to 2021.

Police said video evidence played a critical role in the investigation. The department urged residents to lock vehicle doors, secure valuables, and register home and security cameras with the Starkville Community Connect program at connectstarkville.org. The department also said the youth court system and the police work closely on juvenile cases and encouraged community support and resources for youth court.

The incidents remain under investigation, the department said.
