Judge sentences Reginald Denman to 20 years for oxycodone distribution
TUPELO, Miss. — Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims on Feb. 6 sentenced Reginald Denman to 20 years in prison after a conviction for possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, according to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office.
An additional 10 years of Denman’s sentence were suspended, and he received 10 years suspended for a separate felony fleeing charge. He also must complete five years of post-release supervision upon leaving prison, the release said.
The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit investigated the case with assistance from the Tupelo Police Department. Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted the case on behalf of the state, the release said. Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, commended the narcotics unit for its sustained efforts to stem the flow of dangerous drugs into local communities.
Oxycodone is a prescription opioid that is commonly diverted and sold illegally and has been linked to addiction and overdose nationwide. The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit is a regional law enforcement group that investigates drug trafficking in the area. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
