Judge Hicks invites Dr. Brackney to tour Youth Diversion & Enrichment Center
Dr. Rashall Brackney toured the Youth Diversion & Enrichment Center yesterday at the invitation of Judge Carlyn Hicks, the Jackson Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Dr. Brackney encouraged the young, maturing students to take advantage of every opportunity to be their very best and to know they are valued, the post said.
“The Enrichment Center is a place where young people can reset, skill-up, and be seen for their strengths,” Judge Hicks said in the post. Youth diversion and enrichment centers generally aim to provide alternatives to formal juvenile justice processing by offering skill development, academic support and wellness resources to help young people succeed.
The post said the facility includes an Innovation Suite, a Creative Lab and sound booth, a Wraparound and Wellness Suite and an Academic Recovery Suite. Such spaces are intended to give youths practical skills, academic help and access to wellness services that can support positive outcomes. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
