Hinds County sheriff partners with Army to help soldiers find jobs
Hinds County Sheriff’s Office said on its Facebook page that it has partnered with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success, or PaYS, program to help soldiers secure employment after military service.
The PaYS program is a Department of Defense initiative that connects service members with participating employers to ease the transition to civilian careers. Officials said the program gives soldiers access to employment opportunities with organizations that have agreed to consider them as they leave military service.
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, which serves Mississippi’s most populous county and includes the city of Jackson, joins local and national employers that use such partnerships to recruit candidates with military training and leadership experience. Law enforcement agencies often seek veterans for patrol and investigative roles because of their discipline and experience.
The partnership may expand hiring pathways for soldiers and support workforce needs in the county, officials said in the announcement. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
