Hinds County sheriff offers condolences after deputy’s line-of-duty death
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree D. Jones extended his deepest condolences to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and to the family, friends and colleagues of a deputy who died in the line of duty, according to a post on the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
“We stand with you as members of one law enforcement family, united in grief and in honor of a deputy who served with courage and commitment,” Jones wrote in the post. “His sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
Jones added that “the entire state’s law enforcement community is holding you close in prayer” and said the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office stands ready to support the deputy’s loved ones in the difficult days ahead.
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Hinds County, Mississippi. Public expressions of support between agencies are common after line-of-duty deaths as colleagues and communities grieve and coordinate assistance.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
