Hattiesburg police arrest armed-robbery suspect after standoff
Hattiesburg police arrested an armed-robbery suspect after a standoff at a home in the 300 block of E. Scooba Street on Friday, the department said.
Officers arrived at about 10:30 a.m. while attempting to locate Brandon Rice, 32, of Hattiesburg, who was wanted in connection with an armed robbery reported about 9 a.m. in the 900 block of Broadway Drive, Hattiesburg Police said in a Facebook post.
Detectives identified Rice as the suspect and determined he was believed to be inside the residence on E. Scooba Street. Officers attempted to make contact with Rice for more than two hours before entering the home, the department said.
During a search of the residence, Rice was found hiding in the attic and was taken into custody without incident at about 2:10 p.m. He has been charged with one count of armed robbery. The Hattiesburg Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing.
