Funeral set for Lee County deputy in Tupelo
Funeral services for Deputy Rick Haggard will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at West Jackson Street Baptist Church in Tupelo, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department said in a Facebook post. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service, and Pegues Funeral Directors are handling arrangements.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency serving Lee County in northeastern Mississippi. Deputies routinely work alongside local schools, community organizations and other public safety partners, and the loss of an officer often prompts widespread community response.
The department asked the public to keep Deputy Haggard’s family, his coworkers, the Shannon Elementary family and all who knew and loved him in their prayers during this difficult time. Shannon Elementary refers to a local school community that the department said has been affected by the loss.
The announcement did not provide additional details about Haggard’s death. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
