Deputies arrest Pontotoc man in Lee County on meth charge
LEE COUNTY, Miss. — Deputies stopped a vehicle in the Shannon area of Lee County on March 12, 2026, and arrested a driver after finding methamphetamine, Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said in a Facebook post.
Authorities identified the suspect as Christopher L. Tedford, 48, of Pontotoc, Mississippi. He was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance — methamphetamine. A Lee County Justice Court judge set his bond at $25,000, the post said.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, which handles law enforcement across the county including the Shannon community, routinely conducts traffic stops that can lead to criminal charges when officers find illegal items, sheriff’s officials have said in other announcements. Lee County is in northeastern Mississippi and includes both incorporated towns and rural areas where deputies patrol roadways and respond to calls.
Methamphetamine is classified federally as a Schedule II controlled substance. Arrests for possession of methamphetamine reflect ongoing local and national efforts to combat illegal stimulant distribution and use. The case will proceed through the justice court system. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
