Coffee with a Cop brings officers, community together
Organizers invite the public to meet police officers at Coffee with a Cop on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at East Mississippi Lumber Company, 300 Russell Street in Starkville, organizers said in a Facebook post. The post said there will be no speeches or agendas — just coffee and conversation.
Coffee with a Cop is a national program that pairs law enforcement officers with community members for informal conversation and relationship building. The events are intended to give residents an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns and get to know officers outside formal law enforcement settings.
Community gatherings like this aim to increase transparency and trust between police and the public. Advocates say informal interactions can improve communication and cooperation on local public safety issues, though outcomes vary by community.
Everyone is welcome, organizers said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
