Clarkco State Park reopens March 19 with renovated cabins, campsites
Clarkco State Park in Quitman, Mississippi, will reopen March 19 following renovations that include updated RV campsites and renovated cabins, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) said.
MDWFP said the park will mark the reopening with a public event beginning at 8 a.m. March 19 with a social gathering at Pavilion Two, followed by a special program. Guests will be able to tour the renovated cabins and campground after the program, the department said.
The park now includes 43 updated campsites designed for RV camping, each equipped with full hookups including water, electricity and sewer, plus a picnic table and grill, MDWFP said. Officials said the upgrades are intended to make the park a more comfortable destination for visitors.
Clarkco also features six newly renovated cabins outfitted with stainless-steel kitchen appliances, including a refrigerator, stove, microwave and coffee station. The cabins include renovated dining areas with solid-surface countertops, new living-room furniture with a flat-screen satellite television, updated bedroom furniture and bathrooms with walk-in fiberglass showers, the department said.
Each cabin now offers a front porch with a picnic table, fire pit and grill and a screened-in back porch with outdoor seating. Additional renovations include updates to the lodge and bathhouse, MDWFP said. Reservations for cabins and campsites are open through the department’s online reservation system.
Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, hiking and a day-use area with a playground, nature trail, disc golf course and tennis courts. Park entry costs $2 per person; children age 5 and younger are admitted free. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
