Booneville continues recovery after ice storm
Booneville continues response and recovery efforts following a recent ice storm, the city said in a release posted to Facebook. The city said it is coordinating emergency operations with Prentiss County Emergency Management Agency Director Bud Lindsey and remains in communication with state legislators and assistance agencies.
Natural gas and municipal water well service are functioning, the release said, and crews are working on small-scale leaks across the city. Donations and critical supplies, including bottled water, blankets, staple food items and hygiene products, are being delivered; the city said the location for distribution will be announced.
The Street Department is clearing storm debris and improving access on city streets. The release said the City of Amory sent six crew members to assist and the Mississippi National Guard is helping with “cut and push” operations on impassable roads. The Booneville Police and Fire departments are offering support, and city engineers are working with officials on restoration efforts.
The warming station at Swift Park will remain open throughout the weekend to provide heat and shelter to residents without power, the release said. The city thanked volunteers, linemen and partner agencies for their assistance and said further updates will be shared as conditions change. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
