Health by Brick offers free talks on kidney-heart connection in March

MADISON, Miss. — Health by Brick will hold a series of free community health talks across central Mississippi in March, recognized as Kidney Awareness Month, the organization announced Tuesday.

The interactive events will take place at libraries, cafés and other community venues in Jackson, Madison and Pearl, Health by Brick said. The talks are free, but space is limited and organizers encourage advance registration at healthbybrick.com/events.

Each session will open with a “Pre-Talk Huddle” featuring a rapid health screening, short exercises aimed at improving overall health and an opportunity to ask questions of a health professional, organizers said. The main presentation will focus on practical steps people can take to prioritize their health and on how the heart and kidneys work together to support the body.

Kidney Awareness Month in March aims to raise public attention to kidney disease, its risk factors and links to other conditions such as heart disease. Health by Brick said the talks are intended to help residents better understand the science-backed relationship between kidney and heart health. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
