DeSoto County Board of Supervisors elects new leaders for 2026

The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors elected new officers during its first meeting of the year, selecting leaders for 2026, according to a Facebook post from the county.

District 2 Supervisor Mark Gardner passed the gavel to District 1 Supervisor Jessie Medlin, who will serve as board president. District 3 Supervisor Ray Denison was elected vice president.

Each year, the board rotates leadership as part of a longstanding tradition. The board president and vice president preside over meetings, guide agendas and proceedings, and serve as primary signatories on official documents and contracts.

Gardner thanked the board for his leadership over the past year, expressing pride in their work and confidence in future leadership. Medlin expressed gratitude for the trust of his fellow supervisors and looked forward to continuing service to DeSoto County residents.
