Lee County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Jury Duty Scam Calls
Lee County Sheriff Jim H. Johnson warns residents about scam calls impersonating sheriff’s department staff. Several people have reported receiving calls claiming they have a warrant for missed jury duty and demanding payment.
Johnson says the sheriff’s office will never call to ask for money, threaten arrest over the phone, or request personal or financial information. Residents are advised to ignore such calls.
Officials urge anyone who receives these calls to avoid sharing personal details, not send money, and hang up immediately. They also ask residents to share this warning to help protect others in the community.
