Trooper, Magee Officers Save Man’s Life in Walmart Parking Lot

MAGEE, Miss. – Quick action by Mississippi Highway Patrol officer Brown and officers with the Magee Police Department saved a man’s life Thursday morning after he was found in a Walmart parking lot with severe bleeding.

According to Magee Police Chief Denis J. Borges, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. on August 14, when a highway patrolman discovered an individual lying on the ground, covered in blood. Officers arriving on the scene found the man bleeding heavily from his wrist.

As they attempted to provide aid, the man resisted efforts to stop the bleeding. After a brief struggle, officers were able to apply a tourniquet and stop the blood loss. A large knife was also recovered from the scene.

The man was transported to a hospital by Covington County Ambulance Service.

Chief Borges credited the determination and fast response of both the patrolman and Magee officers for preventing a potential tragedy.

“No matter what you are going through, remember that everything passes,” Borges said in a statement. “No failure is final, and life always offers second chances, except for death. Choose to stay, because tomorrow could be the day everything changes.”
