Three juveniles charged as adults in Vicksburg shooting
VICKSBURG, Miss. — Three juveniles were charged as adults after a shooting March 5 at the intersection of Randolph Street and Locust Street, the Vicksburg Police Department said in a March 9 statement.
No injuries were reported in the incident, police said. Following an investigation, officers identified and took three juvenile suspects into custody.
The suspects appeared in court March 6 and were adjudicated and charged as adults, the department said. The suspects are identified as: Zion Pierce, 16, charged with aggravated assault, bond set at $600,000; Brian Bell, 16, charged with aggravated assault, bond set at $600,000; and Kaiden Knight, 15, charged with aggravated assault and shooting into a motor vehicle, bond set at $550,000.
Vicksburg police are continuing the investigation. Prosecutors sometimes seek to try juveniles as adults in serious felony cases; such decisions are governed by state law and court processes.
