Toppers sweep Williams Baptist in home opener

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian softball swept Williams Baptist in a home doubleheader Tuesday, defeating the Warriors 4-0 and 7-2, the school reported.

The Toppers set the tone in the opener with two runs in the first inning and two more in the third. Maryn Macri hit a two-run home run and Kelsey Camp followed with a two-RBI single. Anna Harrison crossed the plate twice as Blue Mountain Christian built an early lead, and Neely Cooper tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing five hits in seven innings.

In the nightcap, the Toppers again seized control early, plating three runs in the second inning, adding one in the fourth and breaking the game open with a three-run sixth on the way to a 7-2 victory. Harrison drove in three runs, while Macri and Camp each added two RBIs. Harrison finished the day a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and stole four bases in the second game, totaling six stolen bases across the doubleheader.

Jana Shaw went the distance in the nightcap, allowing three hits and two runs in seven innings to earn the win. Blue Mountain Christian showcased timely power, situational hitting, aggressive baserunning and steady pitching in the sweep as the team builds momentum early in the season. The Toppers return to action Feb. 12 against United States Sports University at 6 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
