Blue Mountain Christian swept a doubleheader against United States Sports University on Friday in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, winning 8-6 and 8-0, the school’s athletic department said.

In the opener the Toppers pulled away in a back-and-forth game, finishing with 10 hits and scoring in six different innings to earn an 8-6 victory. Gail Wisher worked the full seven innings in the first game, holding off several rallies to pick up the win, the school said. Momentum carried into the nightcap, when Blue Mountain Christian delivered an 8-0 shutout highlighted by a six-run third inning.

The Toppers scored eight runs on eight hits in the nightcap while playing error-free defense and relying on a steady pitching staff to limit United States Sports University to few offensive opportunities. With the two wins, Blue Mountain Christian completed the sweep and showcased depth and timely hitting. The team is scheduled to play Crowleys Ridge College on Tuesday at 2 p.m., according to the team’s schedule.
