Toppers split doubleheader, earn first win

Athens, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian split a Friday road doubleheader at Tennessee Wesleyan, earning a 9-6 victory in the opener before falling 12-2 in the nightcap, the school’s athletics site said.

The 9-6 win provided Blue Mountain Christian its first victory of the season and showcased depth and timely offense, the athletics site said. The opener offered encouraging signs as the Toppers rallied to secure the lead and held on late.

The nightcap proved more difficult as Tennessee Wesleyan posted a 12-2 victory. The athletics site said the second game presented challenges against a strong Wesleyan lineup and exposed areas where the Toppers will look to improve.

Blue Mountain Christian fields a collegiate baseball program that competes regionally and uses nonconference road trips such as this to prepare for its regular-season slate. The split underscores both progress and work ahead for the Toppers as they build momentum. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
