Toppers honor seniors, sweep Rust in final home match
NEW ALBANY, Mississippi — Blue Mountain Christian swept the Rust Bearcats on Senior Day in the Toppers’ final regular-season home match, the school said. The program honored seniors Luis Lainer and Pablo Cruz before the match.
Blue Mountain Christian dominated doubles to set the tone. Adriaan Engelbrecht and Lainer won No. 1 doubles, 6-0, Cruz and Kevin Kotzé followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 2, and Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins closed the doubles session with a 6-0 result at No. 3, the school said.
The momentum carried into singles, where Engelbrecht defeated his opponent 6-1, 6-1 and Cruz won 6-2, 6-4. Kotzé and Blevins each posted 6-0, 6-0 sweeps. Shiraam Anbanantan recorded a 6-0, 6-3 victory, and Lainer finished Senior Day with a 6-3, 6-4 win, according to Blue Mountain Christian.
With the regular season complete, the Toppers will turn their attention to the SSAC Tournament. The SSAC is the Southern States Athletic Conference, a regional collegiate conference. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
