Toppers fall to Dalton State 90-80

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian’s men’s basketball team battled throughout but fell 90-80 to Dalton State College on Saturday night at Tyler Gymnasium, the school said.

The Toppers stayed within striking distance for much of the game, trading baskets early and using disciplined offensive execution to match Dalton State’s runs. Blue Mountain Christian moved the ball well in the first half and attacked the paint to keep the score close.

In the second half the teams continued to contend, but Dalton State pulled away in the closing minutes, capitalizing on key opportunities down the stretch. Shannon and Baker combined for 45 points, with Shannon scoring 23 and Baker adding 22 as Blue Mountain mixed perimeter shooting with aggressive drives and created second-chance opportunities.

The effort highlighted resilience across the Blue Mountain Christian lineup as conference play continues in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Toppers will travel to Stillman College on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
