Toppers fall to Barons in SSAC contest

Mount Vernon, Ga. — Blue Mountain Christian University’s men’s basketball team fell 77-62 to Brewton-Parker Christian in an SSAC road game Tuesday, the school said.

The Toppers trailed early despite trading baskets and holding a brief lead in the first half, BMCU said. A late push kept the score within reach at halftime, but Brewton-Parker carried the momentum into the second half and expanded the margin down the stretch, aided by turnovers from BMCU.

Junior forward Gavin Shannon led the Toppers with 25 points. Jonathan Baker added 16 points and nine assists while guard Michael Hill scored seven points off the bench. Esrael Yant contributed six points and seven rebounds. Chris Carter scored three points and RJ Robinson had two.

Blue Mountain Christian returns home Thursday to face Life University at 7:30 p.m., the school said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
