Toppers fall in double-overtime to Tennessee Southern

PULASKI, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian fell 94-93 to Tennessee Southern in a double-overtime Southern States Athletic Conference game Saturday at the Curry Athletic Complex, the school said.

Tennessee Southern controlled much of the early action, building separation through efficient offense, but the Toppers mounted a late rally to force extra time, Blue Mountain Christian said. The comeback pushed the game through one overtime and into a second, where each possession took on added significance.

Senior guard Gavin Shannon led the Toppers with 31 points. Michael Hill added 23 points, Jonathan Baker scored 12 and Chris Tackett contributed 11 off the bench, the school said. Blue Mountain Christian said the balanced scoring and depth helped the team respond as the contest tightened late.

No team could break through in the first overtime, and Tennessee Southern converted late in the second to secure the one-point decision. The Toppers host Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College for senior night at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Blue Mountain Christian said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
