Toppers fall 5-2 at home to Missouri Baptist
NEW ALBANY, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University women tennis fell 5-2 to Missouri Baptist on Tuesday at home, the school said, in a match that featured several tightly contested flights.
The doubles point proved competitive as the Toppers pushed Missouri Baptist in two of three matches. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos lost a match tiebreak 7-4, and Lina Cetina and Lucia Garcia were edged 7-4 in another tiebreak. Nami Malyaporn and Kiersten Terris dropped the third doubles match 6-1.
Blue Mountain picked up two singles victories. Mordiz won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, while Ramos prevailed in a three-set match decided by a third-set tiebreaker, the school said. Cetina, Garcia, Malyaporn and Terris also competed in singles but were unable to secure wins, with Malyaporn pushing her opponent to a decisive third set before falling.
The result serves as preparation for conference play as the Toppers open Southern States Athletic Conference competition Thursday in Montgomery, Alabama, Blue Mountain said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
