Toppers earn 69-66 road win at Brewton-Parker

Mount Vernon, Georgia — Blue Mountain Christian University held off Brewton-Parker Christian 69-66 on Tuesday to earn a Southern States Athletic Conference road victory, the school said. The Toppers improved to 10-9 overall and 5-6 in SSAC play, while Brewton-Parker fell to 4-18 and 3-8 in conference action.

Brewton-Parker built an early advantage, but Blue Mountain Christian responded with balanced offense and steady defensive pressure to stay within striking distance. Maddie Kirk and McKenzie Williams provided early scoring, and Isabella Carlson helped settle the offense with strong ball movement, the school said.

The game remained tight in the second half as Brewton-Parker trimmed the margin several times in the third and fourth quarters. Blue Mountain Christian answered each push with timely baskets, defensive stops and strong rebounding, and late free throws and composed decision-making allowed the Toppers to maintain their lead in the closing minutes.

Offensively, Blue Mountain Christian was led by Maddie Kirk, who finished with a team-high 17 points, six rebounds and four assists, the school said. McKenzie Williams added 14 points and five rebounds, Rebecca Walter scored 12 points and Isabella Carlson had eight rebounds and eight assists. Blue Mountain Christian will host Life University on Thursday. The SSAC is the Southern States Athletic Conference, a league of small colleges in the southeastern United States.
