Toppers complete four-game sweep of Williams Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Blue Mountain Christian completed a four-game sweep of Williams Baptist with three consecutive victories to close the series, using timely hitting, strong pitching and steady execution in key moments.

Game 2 resumed at 10 a.m. Thursday after being suspended the previous day, and the Toppers edged Williams Baptist 6-5 in 10 innings. Blue Mountain Christian collected 11 hits in the game, with Jake Meilstrup recording a multi-hit effort and driving in two runs. Gavin Foley delivered a late-inning RBI, and reliever Jesse Hancock worked three scoreless innings to earn the win and keep the Eagles off the board in extras.

Momentum carried into Friday’s opener of the doubleheader, where the Toppers posted a 5-0 shutout in Game 3. Chris Matthews went seven scoreless innings and struck out seven, limiting Williams Baptist’s chances. Offensively, RBIs came from Cody Presley, Trace Roy and Jarret Morris, while Garrett Lance drove in two runs to help extend the lead.

Blue Mountain Christian closed the series with a 13-8 victory in Game 4, erupting for 13 runs on 11 hits. Meilstrup continued his strong series with a home run and three RBIs, Reise Thomas added a triple and Foley drove in two more runs as the Toppers built separation across multiple innings and held on late.

With the three straight wins the Toppers completed the four-game sweep and will return home to host highly ranked Georgia Gwinnett College on Feb. 20. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
