Six BMCU student-athletes earn NAIA scholar-athlete honors

Kansas City, Mo. — Six Blue Mountain Christian University student-athletes were named 2025-26 NAIA Scholar-Athletes for winter sports, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics announced. The honor recognizes student-athletes who excel academically and athletically across winter sports programs.

To qualify as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, students must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, appear on their sport’s eligibility certificate and attend their institution for at least one full academic year. The NAIA list covers winter sports including basketball, bowling, competitive cheer, competitive dance, swimming and diving, and wrestling.

Blue Mountain Christian University Director of Athletics Curt Fowler said the recognition reflects the institution’s emphasis on both classroom and athletic development. “We are incredibly proud of these student-athletes for the commitment they have shown to excellence in every area of their lives,” Fowler said. “Their discipline, character, and dedication represent our university extremely well.”

The Blue Mountain Christian University winter scholar-athletes are Isabella Carlson, Jacob Hinton, Kathryn Echols, Lindsey Murr, Maddie Kirk and Rebecca Walter.
