Night Hawks hold off Toppers 85-76 in SSAC clash

Blue Mountain, Miss. — Thomas University held off the Blue Mountain Toppers 85-76 on Thursday in a Southern States Athletic Conference game, Blue Mountain College reported.

Thomas built an early advantage and led 42-29 at halftime behind a balanced scoring attack and efficient execution. The Night Hawks extended that momentum in the second half while the Toppers worked to close the gap.

Blue Mountain showed resilience, with Gavin Shannon leading the Toppers with 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Jonathan Baker added 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. Reserve RJ Robinson contributed 10 points and seven rebounds, and Esrael Yant chipped in nine points, according to the college release.

The loss keeps conference play tightly contested as teams jockey for position in the SSAC, an NAIA conference. The Toppers are scheduled to play at Point University on Jan. 29. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
