Dalton State beats Blue Mountain in SSAC road game

DALTON, Ga. — The Blue Mountain Christian Toppers lost to Dalton State 103-68 in a Southern States Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon. Dalton State’s high-energy defense and balanced scoring attack set the tone early, forcing Blue Mountain into quick decisions and disrupting its offensive flow.

Dalton State jumped out to an early lead, capitalizing on transition opportunities and shooting efficiently from beyond the arc. Despite Blue Mountain’s efforts to slow the pace, the Roadrunners maintained control throughout the first half, leading by a significant margin at halftime.

After the break, the Toppers increased their intensity. Esrael Yant provided an offensive spark with 17 points and three assists, while Gavin Shannon contributed 13 points and seven rebounds. Kam Carter facilitated the offense with 10 points and five assists, and Jonathan Baker added 10 points in steady play.

Blue Mountain finished the game shooting 39.4 percent from the field and made eight three-pointers. The team showed resilience but was ultimately unable to overcome Dalton State’s defensive pressure. The Toppers will play Thomas University on Thursday night in Blue Mountain.
