Cooper throws no-hitter as BMCU sweeps Thomas in SSAC doubleheader
Neely Cooper threw a five-inning no-hitter and Blue Mountain Christian University swept a Southern States Athletic Conference doubleheader against Thomas on Saturday in Thomasville, Georgia, the school said. The Toppers won game one 12-3 and closed out the day with an 8-0 run-rule victory in game two.
BMCU collected 17 hits in the opener and scored in five innings to take control early. Kelsey Camp drove in the first run with a double in the first inning and Aspen Teague capped a four-run second with a three-run triple. Teague finished with three hits and two RBIs; Camp had three hits and two RBIs; Maryn Macri added two hits and two RBIs.
Madison Montgomery earned the victory in game one, throwing a complete five-inning game while allowing three runs on four hits, according to Blue Mountain Christian athletics.
Cooper dominated in the nightcap, striking out five, walking one and inducing 10 groundouts in her five-inning no-hitter in the 8-0 win. Blue Mountain Christian scored five runs in the first inning to break the game open. Anna Harrison scored the first run of the game to record her 41st run of the season, a new single-season program record, the school said.
Mikaylah Fuqua had two hits and scored two runs in game two, while Teague added two hits and an RBI. Camp and Neely Barrier also drove in runs for the Toppers.
With the sweep, Blue Mountain Christian continues SSAC play and is scheduled to play at William Carey on April 2, 2026, at 3 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
