Blue Mountain falls to Tennessee Southern in close SSAC battle

Blue Mountain Christian University’s men’s basketball team fought hard but lost to Tennessee Southern 67-60 in a Southern States Athletic Conference game Saturday in Blue Mountain, Mississippi.

The Toppers started strong, but Tennessee Southern built a lead in the first half. Blue Mountain responded with increased energy in the second half, narrowing the margin and staying competitive until the final minutes.

Blue Mountain forced turnovers and created scoring opportunities but couldn’t overcome the early deficit. The team kept fighting until the final horn, challenging a tough conference opponent throughout the game.

Jonathan Baker led Blue Mountain with 11 points. Gavin Shannon scored 10 points off the bench, and Michael Hill added seven, including a key three-pointer in the second half. Jalen Boyd-Savage contributed six points.

The Toppers will play next at Life University on Jan. 15, continuing their conference schedule. They aim to carry the grit and resolve demonstrated in this hard-fought game into their upcoming match.
