Blue Mountain Christian posts strong finishes at MC Spring Invite
CLINTON, Miss. — Jonah Barnhardt led Blue Mountain Christian University with an eighth-place finish in the men’s 5,000 meters at the Mississippi College Spring Invite on Saturday, running 15:42.88, the school said.
Teammate Lukas Dykes placed 18th in the 5,000 in 16:30.22. Erick Flores finished 23rd (18:03.84), JT Draper was 26th (18:44.61) and Noah Harrington was 27th (18:53.14). In the men’s 1,500, JaKarien Perry finished 15th (4:26.50), Dykes was 16th (4:26.74) and Barnhardt was 22nd (4:30.28). Perry also ran the men’s 800 in 2:05.87 for 18th and Sammuel Hopper was 20th in 2:09.70.
On the women’s side, Kaedyn Wilson paced the Toppers in the 5,000 with a 12th-place finish in 20:04.35. Ella Shepherd was 15th (20:45.07) and Lauren Paul was 18th (23:01.52). Jorja Kate Mooneyhan led Blue Mountain Christian in the 1,500, finishing 20th in 5:39.72, and also placed ninth in the 800 in 2:37.73. Ruthie Hutchinson was 23rd in the 1,500 (5:44.81) and 11th in the 800 (2:44.53); Leah Montgomery was 26th in the 1,500 (6:23.06).
The Toppers also competed in field events. Abby Laney finished 18th in the women’s discus with a mark of 26.30 meters, and Shane Murphee was 10th in the men’s javelin at 36.65 meters, the school reported. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
