Reeves visits storm-hit communities in Alcorn County

Gov. Tate Reeves wrote on Facebook that he is visiting communities affected by a recent storm, beginning at a warming center in Corinth in Alcorn County.

In his post, Reeves praised personnel helping residents, writing, “Soldiers, emergency responders, medical professionals and local emergency managers are doing an outstanding job serving their fellow Mississippians. Thank y’all for what you’re doing for our state and her people!”

Warming centers provide temporary shelter, warmth and basic services for residents after severe weather and during power outages. Governors and local officials often visit affected communities to assess needs and to coordinate state and local response efforts.

The visit underscores the role of state leadership in mobilizing resources and recognizing emergency personnel after damaging weather. Details about the extent of damage, relief efforts or any ongoing evacuations were not provided in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
