Gov. Tate Reeves thanked Elon Musk and xAI for sending 500 generators to Mississippi in a Facebook post.
Reeves is the governor of Mississippi. Elon Musk is chief executive of Tesla and SpaceX and founded xAI, a company that develops artificial intelligence technologies.
The transfer of 500 generators could bolster efforts to provide emergency power to homes, hospitals, shelters and other critical infrastructure when communities face extended outages. Private donations and corporate contributions have frequently supplemented government responses after severe weather and other emergencies.
Reeves’ post did not include details about when the generators will arrive or how they will be distributed. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
