Reeves proclaims April Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said on Facebook he proclaims April as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month and thanked a local elementary school class for sending a ribbon to support the effort.
Reeves posted, “I’m proud to proclaim April as Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. Thank you to Mrs. Lovorn’s class at Eupora Elementary School for sending me this ribbon to help raise awareness!” The post did not include further details about events or state initiatives tied to the proclamation.
April is widely recognized in the United States as a month to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders and to encourage acceptance and inclusion of autistic people. Observances typically include outreach by schools, health providers and advocacy groups to share information about services and supports.
Governors and other public officials often issue proclamations to spotlight causes and encourage community participation. The governor’s acknowledgment of the ribbon from Mrs. Lovorn’s class highlights local engagement in awareness activities. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
